Prepare NOW for New York Paid Family Leave coming January 2018!
Employers with employees subject to the New York Disability Law (“DBL”), should prepare NOW for New York Paid Family Leave (“PFL”) that begins January 1, 2018. In this webinar you will hear the latest information about the new Paid Family Leave law and learn what you need to do to prepare to offer and administer this benefit that employees will be entitled to take.
In this webinar we will review the basic elements of the law and implementing regulations to help answer the questions:
- What does the law require covered employers to do?
- Which employees will be entitled to PFL benefits and for what reasons?
- What benefit amount will employees receive and how will PFL be funded?
- How are carriers preparing to administer the program?
- How does PFL coordinate with FMLA as well as other employer benefit and time-off policies?
- What action steps should covered employers be taking to prepare for PFL?
About The Presenters:
Ralph A. Sepe is a Partner in the Health & Benefits division at Chernoff Diamond & Co., LLC, where he leads strategic teams that consult and advise clients on their employee health benefit programs. He has extensive knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions and its implications for health plan sponsors. Mr. Sepe negotiates with carriers and designs benefits programs that maximize available resources, control costs and support long term recruitment and retention goals. Under the Affordable Care Act he and his team provide impact analysis, exploring viable benefit plan design alternatives, evaluating funding arrangements based on the risk characteristics of each group, insurance carrier and vendor selection including contract negotiation for health, retiree health, dental and disability plans; compliance support, employee benefit plan administration and performance monitoring.
Jill Bergman, CEBS, is Vice President of Compliance in the Health & Benefits division. As a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist®, Ms. Bergman monitors federal and state-level employee benefit plan legislation and regulations to help clients understand and comply with the ever-changing health and welfare plan requirements as well as continuing to closely watch and report on the progress of healthcare reform implementation under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
